PLEASE PM ME IF YOU WANT TO JOIN THE COMMUNITY.

If you don't do this, your journal will most likely be rejected. The reasons for this step are two-fold. One, it's to "get to know" you a little bit and two, it's to see if you bothered to read the rules.

It's really not that hard. You can click to join and then send a PM. You can send a PM first and then ask to be added. The only way I'll add a blank or locked journal is if I've seen you commenting elsewhere.

If you got here before we went members only, but have a locked or blank journal, don't worry. You're cool.

If you've been recently rejected, just PM me (with something more substantial than "LEMME IN") and try again.

Thanks.

Please PM me if you want to join the community.

Especially if your journal is brand new. Just send me a PM with something a bit more substantial than let me in kthx and click "join". If you don't PM me, I will probably not approve you unless I've seen you commenting elsewhere or know of you through mutual LJ friends.

I'm sorry if this seems like a hassle, but we've had problems with people copying content to share with or post to mainstream baseball blogs in order to poke fun at us or shame our writers. I can't speak for everyone here, but I feel more comfortable knowing, at least a little bit, who I'm letting into the community.

I don't accept blank journals as members. If you're using your journal as a sockpuppet to watch communities that's fine, just send me a PM so I know not to reject you.

We got exposed on Baseball Prospectus, this time. Usually it's deadspin! This is new.

Anyway. The community is going under lockdown until the latest storm blows over. And this time it might stay friends locked. Sorry guys.

ETA

Community is now friends only and membership and posting are moderated.

I suggest you go back and lock your entries, if you can.

unlovablehands posted this helpful entry the last time we got outed.

This one by americanleaguer is also a good one.

I updated the rules here too.

Some shitty team in Flushing, yes, I know. However, they are going to have a live webcast with Mike Pelfrey (I can only hope he'll be at home, in his pajamas) today at 3 PM. I will be at work (boo, making money so I can buy overly expensive Mets tickets in the summer and be angry at everything), but I figured I'd pass along the link anyway.

Submit your questions here and watch the Mets Webcast with pitcher Mike Pelfrey to see if they are answered. Watch it live on Thursday, January 20 at 3:00 p.m. here on mets.com.com/webcast.

Title: Home Runs and Western Suns (completed, in six parts)
Author: 2theletter
Pairing: Pat Burrell/Aubrey Huff
Synopsis: "It seemed like one of those things that was always there, like the Acropolis or Larry King's craggy visage. It had to have started somewhere, but damned if Aubrey Huff could recall. He just knew that at some point, a message clicked on in his head, clear as day: I'm in love with Pat Burrell."
Disclaimer: None of it is true. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Here's the master post. Start from there, comment wherever you'd like and most of all, enjoy it.

I've got a bunny/pairing: Cliff Lee and C.J. Wilson.

Judging from various things said in the press, Mr. Wilson is totally into Cliff Lee. I wonder how he feels now that Cliff will be pitching for Philly? (again)

Thanks!

title: Fine Damn Year
rating: PG
word count: 918
team/players: Rangers: CJ Wilson, Cliff Lee
warnings: Second-person POV
notes: Have you listened to this guy talk? His stream of consciousness must be really fucking wordy is all I'm saying. Written for bats_and_balls and guitargirl39's prompt: "Ever since you hung up on me, I'm hung up on you" (Fountains of Wayne, "Hung Up on You"). Totally gen. Should've posted this here sooner. Oops.

summary: You can't decide if this moment would be better or worse if it were happening in San Francisco instead of here.

Author: soupypictures
Pairing: Barry Zito/Tim Lincecum
Rating: PG-13
Series: Zitobaby, Lincecum edition. I suggest reading Second Chances first.
Disclaimer: The names of real people, institutions and organizations are meant to give the fiction a sense of reality and is in no way indicative of anything even resembling real life.
Warnings: Uh, sap. And it’s short.
Summary: Tim gets ready to meet Zachariah for the first time.
Notes: As always, I feel like I’m constantly fighting Zitobaby fic. I had a couple hundred words written after where I ended this, but ... looks like this is the natural stopping point for this installment.

Of course he’s freaking out.Collapse )

pairing/characters: Lou Marson/Jason Donald
word count: 2900
rating: PG-13, if that
notes: This was supposed to be one scene of a big story, but then it went and felt all complete on me. Oh, well. First posted fic in ages. And oh, hell, it looks like I just crossed my last line, which was writing fic about my own team.

summary: No matter what he does the rest of his career, Jason Donald will be remembered for being called safe that one time.

The Twenty-Sixth Man
by 2theletter
Category: Gen, but some Zito/Hudson undertone could be inferred
Rating: G
Summary: San Francisco, October 7. Postseason rosters are released, and someone is left off. A drabble ensues.
Disclaimer: Not true. In fact, Zito and Huddy were going to have lunch anyway, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

On to today's story.

Title: "Borealis"
Pairing: Barry Zito/Tim Lincecum
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 6,037
Summary: An AU in which Tim is a hooker working the streets of Seattle, and Barry is pitching for the Giants, in town for an interleague series against the Mariners. Paths cross.
Warnings: Prostitution, explicit sex, drug use.
Disclaimer: Don't know, not making any money, all of this is utterly fictionalized.
Author's Notes: Many thanks to grammar_glamour for betaing yet another fic in a fandom that is not her own. Thanks also to soupypictures for helping to nurture an impulsive idea into something real.

There’s a helicopter flying out over the water, lights flashing. He wonders if it’s the Coast Guard, or maybe Airlift. His old apartment was only a couple of blocks from the hospital and Tim used to hear the helicopter with alarming regularity, someone else’s tragedy flying over his head three or four times a day. It always made him feel inordinately lucky.

Title: Praying Mantis (Zombie Female Insects)
Author: soupypictures
Pairing: Barry Zito/Tim Lincecum
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: The names of real people, institutions and organizations are meant to give the fiction a sense of reality and is in no way indicative of anything even resembling real life.
Summary: Zito has bad taste in television. Tim loves him anyway.
Notes: Most of this was written while I was still on my summer break. I got this ridiculous bout of inspiration while watching Speed of Life on Discovery. Then it died, school started, and I defibbed it while horizon_greene was at a Tim Lincecum start. So that whole huge style gap between beginning and end thing? There ya go. (Also, don’t ask why Tim is Tim and Barry is Zito. They just are.) If you like this, thank horizon_greene for pushing me to finish it. If it grosses you out, blame Discovery.

Written for schmoop_bingo with the prompt "serenade". Betaed by the amazing and wonderful littlebuttercup, who always goes above and beyond.

Author: i_believekarma

Genre: Slash
Character(s): Tim Lincecum, Barry Zito
Rating: PG-13/mild R (language and perfuse use of f-bombs, and mild sexual themes)
